Richard A. Murbach, M.D.
Dr. Murbach is the medical director here at The Vein Centre, serving all of Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay area. He specializes in the non-surgical treatment of venous disease.
Dr. Murbach received his medical degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1973. He completed his general residency requirements at the University of Florida in 1978 and his Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery residency at Emory University in 1980. Dr. Murbach is board-certified in general Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery and is also a member of the American College of Phlebology.
In 2005, Dr. Murbach underwent a double knee replacement which meant he could no longer stand through the lengthy Cardiac/Thoracic procedures he loved to perform. After much interest in venous disease and with new technologies available for treatment, it was evident how he would put his 30 years of experience in Cardiovascular Medicine to good use once again. Now he finds joy in restoring life to the legs of those in need just as he did previously for people’s hearts. His prior experience with catheters and lasers provided an instinctive knowledge of how to effectively perform these procedures. Now with his years of experience with veins, Dr. Murbach is one of the most sought after surgeons in the Tampa Bay area for treating venous disease.
When he is not attending to the care and concerns of his patients, Dr. Murbach is active in the community and with his mission work in Guatemala. He spends his leisure time with his wife, Susan, and his children, Tracy, Tyanna, Chelsea, and Richard Jr.
